I’m Sasha Hargreaves, a 20 year old 4* event rider based in Oxfordshire.
Like many riders, I started riding at a very young age. In my case it was mainly because my parents decided it was easier to lead a pony than push a pram on the Oxfordshire bridleways. Gradually I made my way up the levels through Pony Club, learning the scales of training and putting really solid foundations in place. In 2019 I was proud to be awarded my Coaching Certificate and I passed the Pony Club “A Test” with distinction.
I began competing with British Eventing when I was 13 and quickly developed a passion for the sport. In the past few years all the hard work all suddenly started to pay off. In 2016 I became the BE100u18 National Champion on Cranny Volt.
The following year I became the 2017 British Junior National CCI* Champion on Playtime. Suddenly I found myself heading off for Junior trials and then to Ireland as part of the GB Junior squad at the 2017 European Eventing Championships in Millstreet where I finished 21st. I retained my place in the squad for a 2nd year and represented GB as part of the Junior team in 2018 at Fontainebleau where I finished individual 5th and won a team silver, again on Playtime.
I’m one of eight u25 riders to be selected for the British Equestrian Federation Podium Potential Pathway; an elite programme seeking to identify, support and develop athletes who demonstrate the performance to progress to podium potential.
I am fortunate to have a number of commercial sponsors. I am eternally grateful for their ongoing support.
When I’m not riding or in the gym, I enjoy relaxing with my two dogs.
